2010.08.17Video Clip: "Pork or Parents?" (Daily Show)

A very funny, yet telling, video clip about a muslim woman wanting to adopt some children but who is rejected because she won't allow pork, "the most anthropormorphic of meats," in her home.  Four minutes of clever writing/editing:

2010.08.18Video "Mockumentary:" The Majestic Plastic Bag

A four minute stunning parody of a BBC nature film: the plastic bag as a successful organism, accompanied by serious "English-accented" voice, describing it's life cycle.  The video is for a really important activist cause in California, and it's points are made in a very sly and clever fashion.  Enjoy!

2010.09.22Video Clip: Colbert vs. PETA vs. Joe Biden

This was a quick and witty bit by Stephen Colbert regarding PETA's concern about Joe Biden giving US soldiers hot dogs.  Satirical in nature, it actually supports PETA if you, well, "read between the lines."

"INTELLIGENT LIFE IS ALL AROUND US... incredible... what a wonderful chorus to this marvelous Peter Gabriel song.  Nails our relationship with other animal species.  And, it's not just mammals... recent research shows much more plant intelligence than previously expected.  Even from slime molds.

Enjoy... I'm overworked with the cookbook and other projects, but maybe this post will testify that that I'm still alive.  Best to all, Mark

Comments Peter

Hi Mark,

Stephen Colbert uses the term 'vegemites'. I don't think he is aware of the term as used famously in Australia. The product 'vegemite' is a yeast extract spread popular in Australia and for Australians is what peanut butter is to Americans.

Here is a wikipedia link to a famous gingle in Australia 'Happy Little Vegemites'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegemite

Here is a U-Tube link to the actually song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yA98MujNeM&feature=related

Cheers,

Peter

[Like many Americans, I became familiar with the yeasty product from that "Men with Hats" song... I agree that he might not be aware of the product. Anyway, love the way he handled that Meat Institute President... Best, Mark]

Wonderful and hilarious 5 minute clip from The Daily Show where Lewis Black discusses "product recalls" (including food), skewering the industries in general. Bleeped Profanity Warning! Enjoy... Mark

NOTE: I'd originally embedded the video, but the download time due to sub-par programming on the part of Comedy Central is just not acceptable. Affects the whole blog. Here's a direct link to this extremely funny clip:
